My son is encouraged and challenged to read his devotion daily. He picks out applications and knows how to communicate in front of a group of teens he is comfortable with. The best part is when we do our weekly family devotion; he even reminds us that we need to find an application and how we will apply it in our lives!
Through life-on-life discipling, I started reading the Bible, praying, and sharing the gospel. Even though there were times when I don’t understand something or didn’t know how to apply God’s Word in my life, my mentor was there to guide me, and more importantly, to show me how to live out a Christ-centred life.
God used the discipling relationship I had with my spiritual leaders to help me understand His purpose for me – that receiving Christ is only the beginning, but a life of following Him can only be possible with the intentionality and commitment of a labourer (Colossians 1:28-29).
