PLENARY SPEAKERS

mutaMutua Mahiaini, the African Regional Navigator Director spoke on the topic of Servant Leadership at the Lausanne Conference for Younger Leaders in 2006. He was well received, and appreciated for his insight and understanding.

Mutua Mahiaini committed his life to Christ at the age of 10 through the primary influence of his parents.

After university, Mutua spent 2 years in France obtaining his Maitrise, following which he taught in a Kenyan High School for 2 years before joining the Navigators as full-time staff in 1981. In 1995, Mutua was appointed to lead the national work in Kenya. In 1998, he was appointed the Africa Navigators Director and is now based in the regional office in Nairobi, Kenya.
Mutua Mahiaini is married to Stephanie and they have four children.

garryGarry Poole, is Director of Discovery for Willow Creek Community Church. An outreach strategist, he has pioneered the concept of seeker small groups with great success and effectiveness in Willow Creek.

Passionate about reaching lost people for Christ, Garry has been leading Seeker Small Groups for over 25 years. He and his team have assisted hundreds of leaders in launching Seeker Small Groups in their own church settings.

Bill Hybels said of Garry’s contribution, “I am convinced that this simple, biblical strategy of building small groups for spiritual seekers is one of the most innovative and powerful concepts to mobilize all types of churches to reach their ommunities for Christ.”

Garry lives in suburban Chicago and consults on seeker small groups with churches around the world.

MESSAGE SPEAKERS

jimJim Chew is the Asia-Pacific Missions Coordinator for the Navigators. He travels widely ministering to cross-cultural workers in difficult countries. He and his wife Selene live in Wellington New Zealand where Jim serves as an elder in The Street City Church. They are commended missionaries of Bethesda Katong Church Singapore.

Jim is also a Mission Associate of World Evangelical Alliance and on the Leadership Development Working Group of the Lausanne Committee for World Evangelization mentoring younger leaders.

stanleyStanley Mukolwe is the National Director of the Navigators in Kenya and the African CDM director. Dr Mukolwe graduated from the University of Nairobi in 1984 with a veterinary degree and later with a masters from Oklohoma State University and a PhD in parasitology. He has been married to Patience for 22 years and they have three children - Melinda 19, Michael 17 and Christy 10.

philipPhilip Flores is currently the national director of TOPIC-Philippines, the pastoral training arm of Philippine Council of Evangelical Churches. TOPIC which stands for Trainers of Pastors International Coalition, is based in Nebraska, USA.

Philip was the first Filipino national director of The Navigators in the Philippines, from 1985 to 1994. He and his wife Myrna were both discipled during their university days by The Navigators, and have worked as Navigator staff for 35 years. His present involvement with TOPIC has enlarged his borders from discipling students, married couples and young professionals, to helping train pastors and church leaders all over the Philippines.

samSam Hershey co-directs the CDM Navigator Mission along with Dennis Blevins and Don Graybill.
Sam’s ministry with The Navigators coupled with pastoral staff experience in large, medium and small churches has equipped him to effectively coach and train church leaders in intentional disciplemaking and lead the CDM Mission.

Sam, his wife, Shirley and son, Shad (25) live in Vista, CA. Sam and Shirley have been married for 32 years and have two sons in heaven. They have served on The Navigators Staff for 34 years, 21 of which have been with the Church Discipleship Ministry

Wency de la Viña became a believer through the Navigators while a student at University of The Philippines, Los Baños in 1977. From then on, he became involved with the Navigators, serving as staff since 1982. He has served both as a regional campus director, as well as the National Director for the Philippines.

Wency served as a leader of the Naga Conservative Baptist Church for many years and has helped train leaders in some churches in Naga, including a Chinese church. He led the Philippine Navigators CDM from 2003 to 2005.
