A Navigator team from the National University of Singapore (NUS) left for the Philippines for their annual Community Involvement Project (CIP) and missions, 18 May-14 June 2009.
This trip would be an opportunity for the team to cultivate a heart of compassion for the needy, foster friendships among participants and hosts, experience a different culture, and step out of our comfort zone to serve.
Another team from Nanyang Technological University also left for their CIP trip to Northern Thailand, 18-30 May 2009.
“This is an opportunity for us to develop world vision and mission-mindedness through serving the people there. We hope to be able to see and experience the heart of God and the hand of God,” said Chong Ching Ching, one of the staff members leading the NUS team in the Philippines.
They will work with a slum community, support community projects by the Philippines Navigators, and continue their ongoing outreach to the Agta, a previously unreached people group. Given opportunities to partner with pastors and leaders with the Christian Missions for the Unreached who have planted churches among the Agta people and in neighbouring lowlands, the team will give sermons, workshops and English lessons and also pray for the sick.

Knowing God: Theology Made Relevant In Discipleship Today
Posted on May 7, 2009 | Filed Under Church Discipleship Ministries, Discipleship, News
IDMC Conference 2009
by Rev. Edmund Chan, Senior Pastor
If theology is defined simply as “knowing God”, then theology is for everyone!
Theology is not just for professional theologians or pastors. Theology is for everyone. And whether we realise it or not, everyone has a theology. Because every rational person has a personal view of God. The important question is, do we cultivate a biblical view of God? This is pertinent because our view of God actually defines the way we think and determines the way we live!
This IDMC Conference 2009 is for everyone. It is a wake-up call to develop depth in our understanding of God, intimacy in our relationship with God, and vitality in our discipleship in God. We can only pass on to others what we ourselves have experienced firsthand with God. Therefore, our hearts must be tutored to know God intimately.
May I therefore warmly invite you – and your staff team, your church leaders, your cell group members – to come join us for our IDMC Conference on 27-29 August 2009, at Covenant Evangelical Free Church (Woodlands Centre). Further details of the IDMC Conference 2009, including our promotional video, are available on our website: www.idmc.org.sg
We have a limited seating for about 2000 participants and so far, about 1600 have already signed up! We sincerely look forward to having you with us. Hence, for you, the Early Bird Registration will be extended from 30th April to 31st May 2009, so that you can enjoy the lower price for this year’s conference. See you there!
