A letter to the Robertson family
Posted on May 16, 2008 | Filed Under People
Dear Lenny and Beloved family members of Roy Robertson,
We at the Navigators Singapore share with you the deep sense of loss of a stable pillar and support for our work here in Singapore. As you are aware Roy was our first country leader; he also pioneered the Navigator work here. We are very grateful for Roy’s and Phyllis’ labour of love and sacrifice and their leaving us a spiritual legacy and generations of spiritual children. These men and women not only serve Christ with us the Navigators but also with the church and other organisations at large. The work continues now after more than four decades and this is surely because of the foundations that they laid for us which have impacted not only our nation but the region around us too.
Each time Roy and Phyllis came to Singapore their most recent trip being last July, they would always bring encouragement to individual staff and share their life and work with us. They have continued to colabour with us by publishing their writings through our materials ministry. This brings to the body of Christ focus to what they have given their life faithfully to – Disciplemaking.
Though we were shocked and sad when we heard the news of his passing on to Glory, we are grateful to our Lord for taking him home in such a wonderful way. He rested in his chair and entered into a permanent rest with his Master and Lord whom he and Phyllis served with such a sterling service all these years.
We convey our deepest condolences and will as staff observe a moment of silence at around the same time you have the funeral service for Roy Robertson.
Lovingly,
Thomas Chua
National Director

Remembering Roy Robertson
Posted on May 16, 2008 | Filed Under News, People
Roy Robertson, founder of The Navigators, Singapore, and many other Navigator works was called home to glory on 8 May 2008. His funeral service will be held on Monday, May 19, 2008 at 10 am in Texas.
When Roy’s first wife Lois passed away suddenly of an apparent brain aneurism in 1959, Roy wrote what now speaks of his own life and death:
“Humanly speaking, this death of our loved one is a great personal loss.
But through the eye of faith we know that this is not a tragedy.
I firmly believe that death is the crowning event in the life of the Christian.
Death is the time when the saints ‘rest from their labors,’
when they throw off the chains of sin and corruption
and step into the glorious liberty of heaven itself.
What a grand, glad day that will be
for all who have put their trust in Christ!”
View now this six-minute video tribute that will be screened during his funeral service. May our hearts rejoice at a life well lived. May we follow in his footsteps.
Navigator friends are invited to join us as we, The Navigators in Singapore, honour our Lord’s humble servant, and our leader. We will be observing a moment of silence at 11 p.m, Monday, May 19, Singapore time (the time of his funeral in Texas) to thank God for both Roy and Phyllis. We also remember and pray for their extended family and ministries during their time of grief.
